Sporting Chance Initiative (SCO)
The Sporting Chance Initiative brings together all of the essential technological, business, academic and sporting know-how required to create a smart community - Scotland's Smart Sports Community. We help participants from diverse organisations and backgrounds, not normally linked in the course of their business or professional activity, collaborate to create innovative products and services for sporting applications.
The Sporting Chance Initiative is part of the Scottish Collaboration and Innovation Programme run by Stirling University Innovation Park and backed by the Scottish Government, ERDF and the University of Stirling and was established in August 2006.
Membership is free and open to SMEs, Multinational Companies, Higher Education Institutes and Public Sector Science organisations, Sports Associations, coaches and athletes willing to explore and support commercial applications of technologies for sport. A broad mix is essential since it cannot be predicted in advance which combination of skill sets and technologies will provide the best delivery of specific products and services. The diversity of expertise and resources within the membership of over 180 organisations ensures that the programme delivers a range of benefits which match the needs of each member group.
Members can take advantage of the following benefits:
- Connections with other members to identify commercial collaboration opportunities
- Programme of events, seminars and workshops
- SCoPE Awards for new collaborative projects (up to £5000)
- Practical assistance with scoping of new projects
- Advice and assistance in securing public and private funding
- Assistance with Academic Transfer Schemes
- Market Research and Analysis
- Technology Signposting Service
- Access to meeting and conference facilities, hot-desking and test labs
- Joint participation in exhibitions, conferences, events and PR
- Access to Legal, IP, Financial and Marketing Advisory Team
Technology and sport is a combination that offers a Sporting Chance of success in and out of the competitive arena. Ingenuity and innovation supplement natural ability and the determination to succeed with the extra edge that makes champions. It is a blend that also allows the amateur or spectator to take even greater enjoyment from their chosen sport. Be part of Scotland’s Smart Sports Community and give yourself a Sporting Chance….
